Just the words "vintage wedding dress" mysteriously captivates a 'bride to be'. This can be put down to the fact that brides from the past, captured in time through black and white faded photographs, create a sense of mystery, glamour and romance from a bygone era and it makes us want to re-create certain elements of this wonderful period into our wedding day.
The very recent wedding of Kate Moss included lots of vintage elements. Kate commented at the time......... "I wanted it to be kind of dreamy and 1920s, when everything is soft-focus"......
So working in vintage styling, you can imagine how excited I was to receive an invitation from Frances Farmer, Designer of "Calm Amongst The Chaos" (www.calmamongstthechaos.co.uk) to a fashion show she was creating to showcase her "deliciously flirty collection of vintage style bridal wear and evening wear, designed to reflect the glamorous days of Hollywood".
The bridal collection that Frances designed is inspired by the glamorous Hollywood actresses of the 1920s to 1950s and the gowns therefore have such evocative names as Grace, Hedy, Mae and Bette.
This dress is named after Delores Costello a big star from the silent film era. It is a short silk flapper style dress with ostrich feather trim.
This dress is a silk crepe satin halterneck gown with chiffon overlay fully lined and embellished with crystals
Anything chosen from the collection can be produced in a timescale of 6 weeks
All items come in a selection of colours and sizes
Frances offers a couture design and dressmaking service which involves designing especially for you and creating the look you require.
The evening was a tremendous success for Francis and her team who worked so very hard in showcasing her wonderful dresses and outfits.
